ASSISI

Assisi still riches in roman ruins, today it is also important as Francis and Clara’s birthplace and as a unique cultural
centre, nel 2000 Assisi became a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Architects, masons and stone-cutters have given Assisi an incomparable appearance, and time seems to have come to a stand
still before this beauty. The Middle Ages continue to reign supreme and the streets of Assisi are typical of medieval towns
set on a hillside. The main roads are laid out longitudinally across the mountain, ascending to the main square of Piazza del
Comune. Streets, alleys, arches, ascents and descents, and stairs cross these main roads vertically.
Located along these streets are medieval houses, all of which were built with stone, quarried on Mount Subasio, that comes alive
after a rainstorm, turns red in the warm sunset and is pale in the moonlight and during snowfalls. The doors of the houses, which
often feature ogival arches, are also made of stone. Alongside the main door, there is almost always a second walled-up door, with a
step leading to the street, that is narrower and has a much higher threshold.
This is the “door of the dead”, which was opened only to bring out the deceased and was then immediately closed up again.
You will be able to admire Santa Maria degli Angeli Basilic, San Rufino Cathedral, the Rocca Maggiore

TODI
Todi is a nice town with a privileged position, preserving that medieval atmosphere, that so few towns can nowadays boast.
Todi is encircled by three concentric rings of walls, which provide evidence of the town’s size in the Umbrian-Roman, Roman
and medieval periods respectively. The splendid Piazza del Popolo in the heart of town, one of the most beautiful squares in
all of Italy, the Temple of San Fortunato (13th-15th century), set at the top of an imposing stairway, is a work of
precious artistic merit, a remarkable example of the Umbrian Gothic style….and finally the splendid view of the Tiber River
valley and of the surrounding countryside from IV Novembre square, the highest spot in the town.

Tour of Bagnoreggio and Orvieto
a marvellous trip to an enchanted place, where time seems to have stopped.
The complete absence of cars makes atmosphere inside Bagnoreggio even more unreal.
Perched on top of a hill among the valleys formed by Chiaro and Torbido streams, Bagnoreggio appears clinged to the edge of
a cliff where it dominates the wide desolated valley with ith uprising limestone formation that majestically stands over
the valley. Its "splendid isolation" is result of a continuous erosion that makes the tufa rock becoming thinner and
thinner on an unstable layer of clay and sand altered by wind and rain. The town itself has been founded by the Etruscans
about 2.500 years ago and habited nowdays only by a few people is real touristic attraction! You feel back to medioeval
age!
After a good meal in one of the tipycal local restaurant your tour continues to Orvieto,
The most magnificent view of a city of Italy.
Orvieto suddenly it breaks upon the view, rising majestic from the valley, a city that is a rock, a rock that is a city.
Particularly if you happen to arrive when the mists still cling to the tuff and city rises up over the valley like an island
in the midst of a sea of fog. Or in the late afternoon when the setting sun makes the gold mosaics on the cathedral facade
flame forth, truly the "golden lily of cathedrals" as it has been called. The sight is unforgettable!!!
